How Ideas Become Buildings
Architectural services for any given project are composed
of five distinct phases.
Each phase addresses a distinct portion of the work and has specific
goals.
The firm believes strongly in the principles of more Earth friendly design. Green is the current catchall name for a thoughtful approach to designing buildings to use energy more efficiently, conserve resources, and to be more healthy for their occupants. There are many ways to achieve these results– some ideas will work better than others for any given project and budget. Many green building ideas are simple to incorporate, and are as easy as orienting the building and windows properly.
More important than specifying ecologically friendly materials is designing a project that meets the clients needs. Rooms that are well designed and built to last serve their purpose long after certain fads have worn out their welcome. We believe that houses should be efficiently designed, without gratuitous excesses. We also believe that a house should enrich the lives of its occupants, not merely fulfill spatial requirements.
We currently have one Certified Green Building Professional at the firm. We welcome any green building ideas that you bring to the project, and are able to suggest many more. Like the design process, it is our hope that incorporating green building ideas is a collaboration, and is seamlessly integrated with the design of the house itself.
